In June 2017, the Foundation of Hellenism of America unveiled an original bronze statue of Dr. Georgios Papanikolaou that was created by Mazzolini Artcraft and Demetz Art Studio, our partner in Italy. A native of Greece who emigrated to the U.S. in 1913, Dr. Papanikolaou was a pioneer in early cancer detection. He developed the Papanikolaou test, better known as the Pap smear. The statue stands outside the Papanicolau Cancer Research Building on the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine campus. Photos from the unveiling were shot by by David Sutta Photography.

We worked with photos like this one to design the statue.
